Christmas Traditions

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas…..just like the ones I use to know….

Christmas is the most beloved holiday in our household. If you have seen the movie “Christmas with the Kranks” with Jamie Lee Curtis…I am one of these women. I am one of those crazy women who love all those adorable “extras” throughout December as I prepare for the holidays. I have to experience the hot cocoa, ugly sweaters, window shop displays, horse sleigh riding, and listen to Christmas tunes while I drive. I love donating every year, the endless Christmas parties, and spreading good cheer. Our family embraces the holiday with decorating, cooking, baking, entertaining and most of all spending time together as family.

My husband Kevin and our children think I go a little over board? Maybe….I have my gift shopping done in October. Our tree, the interior and exterior decorating is done by the 1st week of November. This gives me ample time to enjoy December in full swing!

I also love traditions. With our family, we bake and decorate sugar cookies. We group up in pairs and make gingerbread house displays. I love bonding with my daughters in the kitchen. We listen to Christmas music, share stories while making Christmas dinner. The men are close by with a whiskey on the rocks, tending to the bar making cocktails for us. I love spiked eggnog and mulled wine! We enjoy our dinner together and before we pass gifts to each other, my husband Kevin reads a passage from the bible, the story of baby Jesus born in Bethlehem. We enjoy the rest of the evening by playing board games and cards. And…while we wrap up the Christmas holidays, I am planning next year.
