Originally from Canada, we moved to the USA in the summer of 2009. I have always had a creative and artistic side to me. I found this out when my husband and I purchased our first “fixer-upper” the year we were married. This was in 1987. Back then, renovation projects where easy and done quickly; you could build a new addition or renovate without jumping through hoops with inspectors (we also lacked social media, which limited our ability to showcase our talents with photos and connect with other designers). By our 5th project, I found my visual and creative design grew into a passion of love and gratitude for me. There is nothing more rewarding than finding your passion of doing what you were born to do. However, we moved around the country so often, i never had a chance to enjoy the fruits of our labor or share my creative side with others. At the end of each completed project, a “for sale sign” went up, and we moved again. I had come to realize every end is a new beginning!
Fast forward, we relocated to New Jersey in 2020. I absolutely love the east coast, there is so much history and charm! We have been house hunting for about a year now and we finally purchased our last project. This will be our 15th home renovation/build and it will be our biggest and most difficult one to date. I decided to dive into the world of blogging and share photos, this is exciting and a new world for me to showcase my creative side (I am normally a private person).
I have such a soft spot for old character homes and I made my husband promise me we wouldn’t tear it down. I believe each old house deserves a “second chance”, no exceptions! The home is located south of Jersey Shore and sits on a slight hill with a 1/2 acre overlooking the bay and with views of the sea. The location, old house, and layout for a huge addition, is what sold us. My visual and inspiration on this particular property is to focus and create a coastal home, a home to fill with memories and love. I am so excited to embark on this journey in the new year of 2022, and it will indeed be bittersweet! This is our final project, our forever home, my Robbins Nest.
Kevin and I have been married for 35 years. We have two grown daughters, Carmen and Jessica. Carmen and her husband reside in Stowe VT with their daughter, Penelope. Jessica recently relocated to New Jersey. We have always been very close to our children and we are now new grandparents to the most adorable girl, Penelope. She brings us so much joy! Never in a million years did I think being a grandparent would be so much fun! I feel incredibly blessed to have an amazing family and the support behind this new venture.
